Wet

After a beautiful hot day yesterday we were expecting thunderstorms in the evening- In yesterdays blip one can see the evening clouds arrived, however, they cleared away quickly-

So more of the same today, somewhere around 30°C.  Despite this, we are struggling with keeping our hay in the stables dry. Sadly some salt got put on the concrete floor which is above a flooded full 2m high cellar containing probably some 100,000 litres of water! The salt attracts moisture which gets into the wooden pallets on which the hay bales are standing.

So out with the big water pump and a few hours of watering one of the horse fields. The cheap Chinese petrol pump with normal fire brigade hoses never ceases to amaze me - it must now be almost 10 years old but starts on the second pull and simply runs and runs without any problems. An expert told me that although YingYang or similar is on the label, the motor is simply an older well tried Honda design.

I also filled a large glass fibre pond that is waiting for a hole to be dug. Geese were certainly interested but didn't go in. They weren't interested in the stream which I herded them in to put did enjoy a time digging around in the large puddles caused by my pumping on the fields.
