Was It Really So Long Ago

Southsea

The day started later than is usual for all of us. The alarm clock in the form of young Master H didn't go off until 9:15, well over 2 hours later than expected. In addition, the young misses were keen to remain glued to Stampy Long Nose for longer than is better for them.

The plan was to spend some time in the sunshine, at the amusements on Clarence Pier and to have lunch out. Keen as we were to enjoy our lunches, we returned to the Tenth Hole, next to the nine-hole pitch and putt course. We'd consumed a fine lunch a few days previously and we did so again today, before testing our luck at getting parked along the sea front on a busy Saturday August afternoon. We got lucky, parking only a short walk from the Pier.

The children enjoyed feeding countless 2p coins into the slot machines, at the amusements despite the place being immensely awful. They both failed to secure any of the cheap toys placed on top of the coins to tempt the unwary into spending yet more. The pleas for more money came aplenty and questions like if I spend 50p more of my own money, do you think I'll get the minion? They did however each manage to secure lollies, so all was not lost. Master H fed 2p coins into the machines at a rate unsurpassed by any of the other gamers, but became fractious when I failed to provide more. I told him there was no more - all gone, to which he responded by pointing eagerly at the change machine we'd visited a short while before and exclaiming 'more!'

So we ventured outside to let off steam on the beach, where we saw the Portsmouth to Ryde hovercraft departing in clouds of spray. The girls found us there only a short while afterwards.

Guess what is now at the top of their holiday to do list?
