Unknown prickly tree

I saw this most beautiful tree in a field next to bushland today – but don't know what it is. It is profusely covered in these white flowers, is a small tree and is dangerously prickly. It has that typical Australian native flower look –  a bit like a grevillea, but I don't think it is one. Any ideas??

I'm not very good at ID'ing plants – most plant books list them alphabetically, which isn't much help when you don't know its name...
