Today's the day ........................ to decant

We drank a special bottle of wine tonight which involved the use of the wine bottle decanting cradle.

This intriguing bit of technology was commissioned many years ago by my Dad from one of his friends who was an engineer.  The idea is that the bottle of wine (and all its sediment) is placed in the cradle and left to settle.  Then, by slowly turning the handle, you turn the screw which gently tips the cradle.  If you are careful - the wine is eventually poured in a very slow controlled way leaving behind the sediment in the bottle.
