Monarch butterfly

This is the first monarch I have seen this year. It is on a whorled milkweed, Asclepias verticillata. We have a monarch watch program and later in the month or in September there will be meets to tag the butterflies. They migrate to Mexico. The butterflies go through four generations in a year and it is the fourth generation that migrates. See monarch-butterfly.org.

I have tried to add an extra with the wings open, but it won't work at present.

A few nice days this week, much drier with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.
