Have you paid?

Went to the railway station just to look for public signs, getting interested in this one containing the present perfect form as my research topic is concerned with it.

I didn't really like the history of English as a subject, but only the history of the present perfect form looked interesting to me. I hadn't given a lot of thought to the reason why this form has have before the past participle in the first place until then, I just memorised the form as it was instead a long ago, when I first learned it. Thus I've always enjoyed what my linguistics course at uni gives to me.
