Wanderings & Witterings

Stirling, near Stirling

This is a relatively new (2002) monument to Lt Col Sir David Stirling, founder of what was to become known as the SAS. It is situated near the village of Doune, Perthshire and is easily accessible from the M9 motorway.

Despite that, I hadn't heard about it until fairly recently (last year maybe?) and had never got round to visiting it. Sunday was another busy day and so called for a quick photo-stop if I was to continue my daily Blipping without interruption. So this monument came to the rescue.

It is in a beautiful and striking setting and is a rather striking monument. Well worth a visit.
