Rain (almost) stopped play

Tonight's performance was Tosca, and it nearly didn't happen as it started raining just before the performance was due to begin. We watched the orchestra trooping out as they had to protect their instruments; they returned, played a few notes, and left again. Then they returned again, and we had about half an hour of opera before we had more rain (it was quite spectacular experiencing thunder and lightning while we were sitting in the arena). After a few false starts they managed the whole opera, although it was gone midnight by the time they finished.
