Antique Art Shop...

...but it was closed today.

This art shop, in the city centre, looked exactly the same as this in 1970 when I first came across it...it was falling down inside then. And it is still the same inside. I don't think the shop itself has changed in over a century.

Apparently their original premises were bombed out in 1941, and this was where they moved to. And the shop frontage has stayed like this since they moved in...and the inside as well!

Old man Jackson was still around in the shop then, though his son and daughter were running the shop and were too very knowledgeable.

They sell good art materials and papers, top brand names. They also took paintings in to be delivered to the Royal Academy when it was exhibition time. And more.

I shall have to go midweek next time.
