Near the Whau River

This afternoon S and I went to Avondale to an Open Home for a house on the edge of the estuary of the Whau River. It was a magnificent view over the estuary, and there were some wonderfully productive citrus trees, but the house itself would cost hundreds of thousands to repair.

We are looking to leave the apartment; as the boys get bigger, so the apartment seems rapidly smaller. And there is no garden. A north facing deck gets bright hot sun and not all plants can cope with that. But this house was no what we want to move to.

On the way back I saw this painted electronics box. Stopped to record the 23rd. Second this year, and first in two months. It is painted to reflect its environment with plants and insects from the nearby estuary
