The castle!

River Eamont (part 19)

We walked from Eamont Bridge, along the river to Brougham (pronounced 'broom') Castle. The girls then spent a few happy hours clambering about the ruins, climbing the 72 steps to the top of the tower (with the helping hand of Grandad!), having a picnic. I had hoped to get a picture of the three girls climbing about, but it was very difficult, as they were always on the move. Then two of them posed and I had a fraction of a second to grab this picture. The first extra photo is another poser.
 
At a later date, I will return to the castle, blip a picture of the whole building, show it's relationship to the River Eamont and provide a little of its history.
