Progress

Two years ago we abandoned this flower bed. In its time it had been the centrepiece of our garden, full of colour and variety. It also became full of bindweed, and try as I might, I couldn't get rid of it. So the plants were stripped out and several applications of strong weedkeller were applied. The bed was left fallow, dug over and weed killed again. This spring all the bulbs came up, too deep to be affected by the treatment!
Now those bulbs have been relocated, a membrane covers the bed and then a thick layer of gravel. The little peach tree is a central feature and we are gradually collecting flower pots. It is looking very acceptable. EXCEPT .... If you look very closely to the left of the right hand group of pots you can see a speck of green. Yes, it is bindweed! It had a fierce squirt of weedkiller from chemical Normous so that should see it off. Well, maybe.
