El Camino

You say patio...I say courtyard...

Thought I better post an entry before I'm three sheets to the wind. The hotel just delivered a complementery bottle of Tattinger on ice, so can't be long I hope you understand! :-)

Realised I hadn't blipped the courtyard before so here is a glimpse of the Andalusian patio at the hotel This resort is flawless, magical and really inspirational. It was nothing but countryside and a small farmhouse a few years ago but the family (a wealthy Spanish property developer) invested a mammoth 250 million euro in creating a world class resort in the classic Andalusian style. (Their original farmhouse remains, near the entrance for private rentals).

Architects Roger Torras & Ignacio Sierra have cleverly created a thoroughly modern destination but using classic Andalusian design and vintage materials

The interior design is by the late Duarte Pinto Coelho (Portuguese, lived in Spain) who has used reclaimed materials such as stone flagstones from a former monastery in Portugal (what are the nuns using for a floor now?!), and loads of antiques to create a wonderful ambiance.

Bedrooms are stunning by Ana & Cristina Calderón - muted tones, luxurious fabrics, 4 metre high ceilings and acres of space. The hotel upgraded us for our anniversary to a room that supposedly costs more a night than my monthly mortgage. Bonkers world, but not thinking about ethics right now - just drinks and nibbles :-)
