Saluki on the beach.

After a busy morning in the mudroom, glazing and loading the kiln, we got stuff together and off we went for an afternoon at the beach at Margaree Harbor, one of our favorites!  It was spectacular...hot, not too crowded and the water was perfect.   The rather elegant (all be it a bit on the thin side) Saluki was exploring the beach, with her owner plus 4 other dogs!!!

Here is some information on this breed, i was quite fascinated!  I had thought they were Asian, but apparently they are Egyptian!!!

"The Saluki, royal dog of Egypt, is possibly the oldest known breed of domesticated dog. Salukis have a slim greyhound-type body with an elegant neck. Coming with either a short coat with silky long feathering on the ears, tail and legs or smooth without the feathering, males normally range from 23 to 28 inches at the shoulder with females being somewhat smaller. As a ’sight’ hound and used as such, they spot (sight) the prey, run it down, catch and retrieve it."

A most satisfying day!
