Alpspitz

Yesterday evening had picked up a rental minibus from the local garage who offer a minibus, van and a trailer rental as a sideline. After breakfast, we all set off south to the alps. It was incredibly hot as we started and we quickly found out the air conditioning didn't work. Annoying but the rental was cheap.

Headed to the resort of Neselwang a "pre-alp" village with several lifts  up the Alpspitz and a summer toboggan run. Took the first lift up to the midway point and took a walk around and looked at the brave Zip Liners who had slid down, in two sections, 1.2 km at speeds of up to 130 km/h attached by a bit of nylon to a steel rope. If you watch this video, wait until the second section comes.

Asked a lady to take a group photo of us all, she refused, saying she always cut off heads and we should wait until daughter came who was a good photographer. We waited and daughter then took the photos. At home discovered mother and daughter should team up - daughter cuts off feet!

Then took the second lift to the top at about 1500 meters where one could see the "proper" alp mountains. Not risking asking anyone else, took today's Blip using the self-timer and a fence post! Then a snack and drink in one of the "huts" before descending with the lift back to the midpoint and from there taking the toboggan run down to the carpark. As last year, I went last so as not to hold up the others but at least I was brave enough to put my life at risk so that the grandchildren could have a laugh.

Back in the baking hot bus to Ottobeuren for an ice cream before a dash home and cooling down in the 31°C swimming pool water. Meanwhile, Angie prepared a wonderful BBQ to round off the evening.
