Deutsches Eck

First walking day; Treis-Karden to Koblenz going firstly to Winningen by train.  Walking along the Moselsteig to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz (supposedly 15Km, but actually a bit longer).  The walking trail was high above the river, which helped ward off some of the heat of the day and gave us great views across vine covered valleys.
The Deutsches Eck (German corner) is at the confluence of the Mosel and the Rhein and here you can see this enormous statue of Wilhelm I, erected in 1897, damaged in 1945 and replaced in 1992 as a monument to the reunification of Germany.  The 2 other blips are of Koblenz.
