The Always Entertaining Umbrella

Rain is great....if only because it results in umbrellas!

Umbrellas are a source of endless entertainment making them the must have accessory this season.

"What", I hear you say, "A source of endless entertainment???"

A cleverly positioned umbrella can allow one to avoid awkward meetings which will later be recounted in 'must have conversations' starting with the phrase, "you'll never guess who I almost ran into...."

A flexible 'out of control' umbrella can cause you and countless other observers to burst out into laughter on a "what were you thinking trying to put that up' windy day, with its circus like performance.

An imaginatively inspired umbrella can double as a sword/lightsaber/ninja staff and marching batton at any given time.

A musically inspired umbrella will allow a slightly intoxicated (or in my case not intoxicated at all) person to relive great moments from Singing in the Rain (I found it entertaining and as there was no-one else around, I win)!

A social umbrella shared at traffic lights with those who do not have the forementioned accessory, can result in making new friends (ended up at a party last week thanks to this one).

A broken umbrella, whilst not so good for the 'keeping dry' purposes, means you always have a story to tell and that makes you instantly worth talking too (people will think "Wow, you must have had an amazing adventure because you've broken your umbrella")!

...oh and a good umbrella (is their any other sort) can keep you dry which is great as long as you don't have holes in your shoes (wet socks are rarely a bonus) and under these circumstances it is best just to keep your umbrella for twirling at opportune moments or for looking daper.

Today whilst randomly cutting through a shopping centre, I saw this celebration of umbrellas floating in space (that's what you call a gathering of umbrellas - they wanted to be called a 'pride' but lions had already taken that and whose going to argue with them!) Either way I liked it and I hope you do too.

Now I'm going outside to dance with my umbrella....I hope it's raining!
