the old hometown

looks the same as I step down from the train... Well not really.

The main street is a shadow of its former self.  There used to lots of busy little local shops in this section of the street alone. From distant memory there were two fruit and veg shops, a fishmonger, two newsagents, flower shop (it is still there!), a butchers, two bakers, a hairdresser, a hardware store and a few other shops that I cant quite recall.

It is sad, but I guess it is not exclusive to Beith. Lots of other high streets all over the UK have suffered the same experience.

Funny thing is that even though the town looks so run down, there is still a little bit that feels like the green green grass of home!
