Hollywood Forever

This morning had been put aside for shopping, so we spent quite a long time in the Shoe Palace buying sneakers, hit a few clothes shops and then went for sundaes at Ghirardelli's Soda Fountain in the Disney Store on Hollywood. Then we walked down Sunset, past Sunset Sound Studios, as far as the Crossroads of the World, before the girls gave up to go back to the hotel to chill and Tom humoured me enough to take the long walk down to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to find Johnny Ramone's grave. The whole thing turned into a proper boys trip out when we happened upon the vast emporium that is the Amoeba Records store (a complete accident, in all honesty), had a bit of an awestruck wander round and bought some badges and punk rock CD's - and we were only half an hour later back to the hotel than we said we'd be. Later on we took an early evening trip up to the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park (along with half of L.A., it seemed, as the shuttle bus up through Los Feliz from the Metro spent an age crawling along in a massive of line of slow moving traffic) for a fabulous view back over the city and across to the Hollywood sign.
