Highland Games - Tick

My friend M. had never been to a Highland Games in spite of visiting us on many occasions, so there was never any doubt about where we'd go today.  The Strathardle Highland Gathering was being held at Kirkmichael, which is not too far from us, so off we went to do the full tourist experience:-)

There was our local pipe band playing away from home as an added attraction, as well as Highland Dancing (lots of it), Put, Hammer and Caber Tossing, Hay Bale Rolling, all sorts of races, cattle and sheep, vintage cars and tractors etc, etc, etc.  The Extra shows a game that was new to me - Tilt the Bucket, which proved very popular especially when the girls got soaked:-)

Sadly, the weather didn't put on such a good show and it got colder and duller as the day progressed, but the rain didn't start until just as we were leaving, so the organisers were very lucky really.

That's the final item on M's wish list ticked, so goodness knows what we'll find to do tomorrow - her last full day with us!
