South Coast Scribblings

Last rose of summer...

...well, one of them anyway! This is taken in our front garden. It's brightened up this afternoon after a very rainy morning.

We had a sudden shock at church this morning when a member of the congregation collapsed suddenly, hitting his head as he fell. I was at the front of the church playing the guitar at the time. Fortunately, we had three nurses in attendance and they got him into the recovery position and mopped up the large amount of blood resulting from his head injury. We stopped the service (obviously) and cleared the chairs so that the medics could get to him easily when the ambulance arrived. He apparently managed to get himself on to the stretcher, but they took him to A & E anyway. (Have just heard that he has been thoroughly checked out and has been allowed home now).

We also found out today that one of our deacons was at the Shoreham airshow yesterday when that awful plane crash occurred. He saw it all, obviously. I wanted to go this year, but it wasn't possible - I must say I am very glad I didn't.
