It's a bug

And yes, it's a shield bug and it is brown but it also has striped edges. There are so many shield bugs that I have no idea. It was on the hawthorn on a bunch of haws, but I don't think it is a hawthorn shield bug, because they aren't all brown, but what do I know ;-)

Today's composition challenge was the (single) focal point, I was trying out the various ways of capturing these lovely red haws (did you know they have little hairs? See the extra!) when I noticed a bit of brown wilted leaf in another bunch of haws. And then realised it wasn't a brown leaf. The focal point then became the shield bug's head.
