Free Passage

Aha, His Lordship and I found a tourist free route into town this morning by way of the Vennel, the west end of the Grassmarket and King's Stables Road.

We encountered no hordes of tourists spilling over the pavement on to the roadway of GeorgeIV Bridge at the statue of Grey Friar's Bobby, rubbing his nose to a shiny brass colour, huddled round the The Elephant house in the mistake of thinking this is where the Harry Potter books were written, or swarming up the Mound on the way to Fringe Venues strategically placed in George Square Gardens to ensure maximum disruption to our corner of the city.

No, we had a clear passage to the Craft Centre at St John's Church and the wealth of talent exhibited in a maze of stalls was exhilarating if not a little daunting to see.
I can't think of anywhere else we have been where the craft and art work was of such a high standard.

We allowed ourselves a birthday biscuit in St John's Undercroft where I blipped this owl in a corner of the cloisters.
By mutual consent, there will be no birthday cake for HL, and consequently, the fire brigade have been stood down, but we will go out for a celebratory meal tonight.
