Smile

It was a sad event today - the day of my sister-in-law's funeral. Sad, but a very positive service to reflect her very positive attitude to life. It can be difficult to make a funeral uplifting, but this, at it should be, was a celebration of her life and the impact she had on other people - and  a memory of her smile.  As it says in David Harkins' poem Remember Me which was read at the service,

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want:

Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

At the end of the day, people were smiling, with fond memories of her and all that she did in her too-short life.

The floral decorations for the event were all sunflowers - smiling, happy flowers which were a favourite of hers.  My wife arranged them and we delivered them to the funeral directors and to the hotel where the family hosted afternoon tea after the service.  This is the reception room decorated and ready for the arrival of the funeral party.  There were many smiles in this room.
