Well done. They are clamps but with a very limited and specialist job to do with welding. I have added an extra showing them in use from above which is a little clearer than my 'arty' version.

For the purpose of Blipping I have shown one the other way.

The technical stuff: When you weld you can either overlap the metal or butt weld. To keep the sheets next to each other with a consistent gap I'll use these little interclamps. once I have spot welded some of the join I will loosen the wing nut which will allow the metal rod to be removed. This in turn allows the clamp to be pulled out from between the sheets. I would then continue until all the join is filled with weld.

Alfie Update: Today I continued to work on the floor and chassis. I have prepared the new top section of the chassis and trimmed the replacement floor panels to fit. This needs careful planning as cutting away too much will cause more work. The biggest challenge will be to get the prop tunnel side to fit around the many shapes.

I have added another extra image showing the panels dry fitted in place.
