Jokes, Ghosts and Space Vixens!

A fairly late start today, the first show I saw wasn't until 16:00

"Tiff Stevenson : Mad Man" - A fairly amusing stand-up show, covering quite a lot in an hour including feminism, U.S. gun control and T-Shirt slogans. Nothing too extreme, had me chuckling through most of the show with a few really funny comments/observation that made me laugh out loud.

I had quite a long gap between shows and had a wander around Princes Street Gardens and The Royal Mile before heading to the next show. By pure coincidence I caught the cast of "Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens" promoting their show.

"The Turn of the Screw" - A two person play about a children's governess who starts a new job looking after two children and sees ghosts, one of whom is the previous governess the other the ex-governess' lover. As the story develops it would appear the children are connected to the ghosts in some way. It was a very well acted play and quite dramatic with the lead actress doing a very good job ramping up the tension and drama to the end of the play.

I had very little time to get to my final show of the night but I dashed from The Mound to the Cowgate past a couple stormtroopers and an Ewok in time for the start of the show.

"Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens" - Think of Rocky Horror meets Barbarella and you'll still not really appreciate what the show is like :-) I saw it for the first time last year and decided to go see it again this year to see if it was just as good. It was. The show is set in "Saucy Jack's" a cabaret bar in space and is actually a bar with cabaret style seating. The Show is excellently done with the cast interacting with the audience as they perform between the bar and the stage. The "Space Vixens" are sort of intergalactic police who arrive at "Saucy Jack's" bar to investigate a number of deaths, they are led by "Jubilee Climax" and the other two go by the names of "Bunny Lingus" and "Anna Labia", which may give you some idea of what the show is like.
