Fallen Tree - One Street

Victoria came to help out today; this is her last day during this year’s summer break as she is off to the South of France tomorrow with her boyfriend and his family. Although dry first thing it was still much too wet to do any gardening. For most of the day we have had torrential rain, although so far the large pond still does not appear to have any water in it; the small pond is almost overflowing.

Today’s picture is of a fallen Hawthorn tree, which is across the lane, by the back entrance to the railway station and about fifty metres from my home. It looks as though the weight of the water, particularly that which is coming down the bank from the fields has caused the branches to break. There is a lot of ivy growing around some of the trees and shrubs in this area; the ivy will have killed some of the shrubs making them more vulnerable. I reported it yesterday afternoon, but this has a low priority compared to the many others, which have been reported; they hope to remove it tomorrow. As this lane forms part of my ‘one street’ this has to be my picture today.

During the evening I went to the Indian restaurant in the village, with my granddaughter and daughter to continue her birthday celebrations and to wish Victoria a happy holiday.
