Emigration standing stone and rainbow

I was nt going to go out early this morning but it looked so nice I could nt stay in so even without making a cup of tea I was out of the door and walking along the links. The sunrise was nt as colourful as yesterday but gentle golden colours that shimmered on the sea.
I turned round and noticed rainbow forming so here you can see it next to the Emigration stone that stands proudly on The Links. The 13ft stone was carved by Richard Kindersley showing words of Hugh Miller and erected in 2002 as part of Miller's Bicentenary celebrations. The stone is blank on the side showing with the carvings on the other side dedicated to the memory of all who sailed on the emigration ships to leave the Cromarty Firth in the1830's/1840's after the Highland Clearances. A list of 39 ships appears with a quote from Hugh Miller about one of the ships called Cleopatra.
You can also see one of the rigs and the lighthouse.
We all had a walk later in the morning and sat enjoying the sunshine. Lunch in The Royal Hotel and then home for me for the next couple of days.
Mike and myself popped down to the Fortrose Academy gathering which stayed dry thankfully.
