Gordes

Today's the day ........................... to discover

Little did we know when we were planning our stay with friends in Aix-en-Provence, that they had a completely different idea up their sleeve. 

No sooner had we arrived, but we found ourselves being whisked off to stay in their country residence in a little village called Peypin d'Aigues in the Luberon district of southern France.  Needless to say, we were more than happy with this turn of events.  It was a part of France that we were not familiar with - well apart from when Paula and Gordon have blipped it during their annual pilgrimage there. 

Today we went out for a drive to explore a little and we came upon Bonnieux, the wonderful place where they stay.  It felt very strange to be there without them - a little bit like seeing something that you shouldn't be looking at!  But now that we have seen it, we understand completely why you would return year after year.

This is another of the villages called Gordes, that cling on to almost vertical hillsides of the region ............................
