Alex...

We had such a lovely day.  Up and out and into town on the bus. We wandered up the Bridges and into the Castle just in time for the one o'clock gun. I hear that gun go off every day and it makes me jump. I stand 20 feet away from it, watching through my camera lens and it still made me jump!!

We pootled down Victoria Street and had lunch in the Grassmarket, get this... sitting outside in the sunshine!!  We watched a man strip for the traffic and a silent disco on the pavement beside us.  Hilarious!  We walked back down to Princes Street and then decided to jump a bus up to the museum just as the rain started.  Round the museum we went, I'm ashamed to say it's the first time I've properly been round since I was a kid. It's very nice indeed. Although I do miss the fish ponds.

The rain had stopped by the time we'd had coffee so we wandered up the Gilded Balloon and went to the box office to see what was on and what we could see right then. We bought tickets for Bec Hill who was doing a show about Regrets. Funny, not mind blowing but entertaining enough.

Then we went down to the Pleasance Courtyard and chanced our luck down there. The next show up was Nish Kumar who is apparently sold out and up for an award. We went into the box office and asked if there were any tickets left and as luck would have it there were two press tickets available so we snapped them up. He was entertaining, even if we were a little nervous to have ended up in the front row. Funny though, political but amusing all the same.

So we came out and decided we were on a roll so back into the box office we went and chanced our luck for Nina Conti tickets... the girl behind the desk raised an eyebrow as if to say 'you'll be lucky!' and just at that moment a voice from the back office shouted that there were two tickets for Nina Conti available!  Hurrah for our lucky streak!  She was just as funny second time round although I felt for the audience members who took part... good sports all round, mind you the groom on his stag night was pretty wasted in his tutu!

Lovely day all round... the sun shone and when it didn't we were indoors! Win!
