I came across a fallen tree ...

These lyrics from Keane's breakthrough single "Somewhere only we know" always pop into my head when I catch sight of a fallen tree, but this one actually looks like it has an eye in the branch nearest the camera. If you look closely, you will also see a number of attractive carvings have been made into the trunk. I came across this fallen tree on my way round Aldenham parkrun this morning. It's a beautiful woodland run around a lake, which I really enjoyed in spite of struggling a bit with the tail end effects of a chesty cold.
