Old Romeo

Adventure Day 7 of 14

"Old Romeo Pier"  -  Pillar Harbor, Half Moon Bay

Stopped at Mavericks surfing hotspot and got this shot across the way of Old Romeo Pier, popular for being photographed and painted by photographers and artists.

The pier was built in 1940 by Joe Romeo to unload fishing boats for his family's seafood canning business. Joe Romeo branded his cans of tuna with a cartooned tuna, "Charlie", wearing sunglasses that he named after his son... the same "Charlie the Tuna" that Star-Kist Tuna adopted as their logo mascot afterJoe Romeo's sold them his canning business.
