The Life Of Ponty Cyclops

Monsktone Maurauders Away

The last few games of the season are really upon us now. We are coincidentally at the same venue two nights running.

Tonight we played Monkstone Marauders down at Pen Y Lan Bowls club in Cardiff. I have never played there before. It is a fantastic venue. As you can see from the panorama there are shed load of pistes.

It was a bottom of the table clash. In a true bottom of the table clash style we ended up with a hard fought draw! Tomorrow night we play the other Monkstone team in plate quarter finals. It was lucky this wasn't the competition as we would have lost the match overall by a single shot. Me and Dawn were on fire ... after a few close ends we began to find the length and edging away. We were well ahead, and then frustratingly dropped a five to put the opposition back in the game. We then got stuck on twelve for a couple more ends before finally falling over the line 13-11. The second game was the complete reverse with us being well behind, dropping a six on the second end. Again, we found the length and I for once shot consistently. I played a shot for match and it came off, killing the game from behind to win 13-10. Dad and Carl went down 13-8 twice.

It was a great night, and we had a good natter in the clubhouse afterwards. We do it all again tomorrow night!
