Convict Kids?

Our final day in Sydney.... We visited the Hyde Park Barracks Museum which was built in 1817-19 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage landmark in the heart of modern Sydney. It was a fascinating place - we could have spent days there taking in the wealth of history. There was a small group of school children being conducted through the building by a humorous but well informed guide. We overheard his graphic descriptions of life back in the convict days and later the very early immigrants' times. It was riveting stuff. Here some of the children are trying the hammocks for size and comfort in the male convicts' quarters.
Alas we leave Sydney in a few hours. I hope it is not too long before we return.
