risky baba ghanoush

Picked up Phoebe and her little daughter, Kitty, this morning in Nyons. They're staying with us (via AirBnB) for 3 nights :)

I barbecued some aubergines from dad's garden tonight to make baba ghanoush in the morning.  It was a risky decision as we've had a complaint from our neighbours about the smoke.  These are the neighbours who we've got on well with until now but we've been getting a bit tired of their nosiness and busy-body ways.  Finally, yesterday, Pierre just explained that we would be continuing to barbecue, that it's not every day, that it's for maybe one hour at a time, and that it's a tiny barbecue ffs!  Our neighbour said she would be calling the fire service the next time! Can you imagine?! 

So, whilst barbecuing my aubergines tonight, I tried to speak with her from the balcony but, after falling out with Pierre, she's tarring me with the same brush and was extremely rude and unreasonable with me tonight.  People are so disappointing sometimes.  What a shame.
