Headstone Viaduct, Monsal Dale

We had a day out in Derbyshire today stopping off at Monsal Dale before going on to Bakewell.

This is the 300 feet high Headstone Viaduct built by the Midland Railway in 1863 to cross the River Wye. The railway closed in 1968 and is now part of the popular Monsal Trail, an 8.5 mile trail running from Topley Pike Junction near Buxton to Coombs Viaduct near Bakewell.

Although it looks like it is about to pour down the rain held off all day.
