Offcumden Cal

Lovely walk in the woods at lunchtime. Been a few weeks since last there, the tree canopy is much denser so it is much darker but soooo green. The fish were jumping in the beck. I had gone to practise bird watching with eyes closed. Inspired by new book by Simon Barnes of how to be a Bad birdwatcher fame. Not much birdsong as it happened but I did see a wren.
This evening I met up with one of my trailtrekker companions for a catch up walk. Saw and heard curlews and skylarks. The rhodedendrans (eek forgotten how to spell that) were in bloom - late this year? We saved a bee, too late back to the hive. Popped him on a foxglove and watched him creep inside a flower. Hopefully it will close up around him like a sleeping bag and keep him warm for the night.
Home in the gloaming, and dripping wet from a prolonged downpour. Still the best way to spend an evening!
