What a lovely day:-

for Carrots

It is that time of year again.

I like growing carrots.  Normally they are easy to grow.  However in our location we are much troubled by carrot fly.

This little blighter lays its eggs/starts munching the base of the carrot at this time of year.

So although one can look at a row of carrots and think how wonderful they are, all is not as it seems.  One can use chemicals, but I am rather going against that, and so, the only solution is to lift the crop early.

This is just a small part of the crop that has been "topped and tailed" and then blanched and frozen for future use.
