The second half of life..

Finals time

Whilst my school hasn't fared as well as we would have hoped, others have risen to the challenge.  St Margaret's have once again made the final where they met Cashmere High School.  I like many around me thought that the final would be a very one-sided affair as Cashmere didn't seem to have the flair, assuredness, stature or skill of St Mags.

Oh how wrong we all were!

The final itself wasn't a very riveting game at all - slow, deliberate and feeling like each team was playing not to lose rather than playing to win.  The final 5 minutes though saw things change until, with just a minute or so to play, Cashmere went ahead for the first time in the game.  Nerves maybe?  St Mags scored off their own centre pass then took an intercept and scored virtually on the final whistle to win by just a solitary goal.  No doubt Maggie Bear was dancing in the aisles!  We however, finished off quickly then made a dash for the car to begin our 7-hour drive back home.  Home around 12.30am shattered but very pleased with how things ran for the week.

Next year we hostthis tournament here in Nelson :)  Yay - no travelling!
