Life through the lens...

Our heritage

A morning lie in after a wonderful party last night.
We didn't stay late, but it started at 5.30pm.!
Thought we would let the younger ones carry on enjoying themselves.
I hadn't realised at the time but I was the oldest  one there!! Although I didn't feel old.
It didn't seem so long ago the George's mum and dad were 18!
Where have the years gone?!

After a late breakfast we decided to go out somewhere as it was such a lovely morning.
Ended up at Thwaites Mill in Leeds.
We have been many times for a walk along the canal, but today was open day and also a classic car rally.
The fully restored working water- powered mill built in 1923-25 on the river Aire is one of the last in Britain,
A link here to a web site telling you more about the mill.

It was wonderful to see the wheels turning all the machinery.
Used for grinding and crushing.
The last thing to be made here before it closed, was putty.
We had an old fashioned burger, and cup of tea for lunch, and then a walk along the canal.
Collected some blackberries on the way. ( good job I carry a plastic bag with me, just in case!)
Then back home, and a sit in the garden to enjoy the last of the sunshine, and a nice glass of rose!

I made a Berry Lemon Pudding with the blackberries. Tasted fantastic.
The sponge rises to the top and the lemon sauce goes down to the bottom to cover the blackberries.
One I will definitely make again. We had second helpings, and finished it off between the two of us!

Hope your weekend has been as enjoyable as mine.
