Mullein Weather Forecast Winter 2015/6

Seemed like winter arrived today. 8°C for much of the morning, managed to get to 12°C in the afternoon and despite the sun appearing in the evening, it couldn't help. My pleas in the evening to turn on the central heating fell on deaf ears, so the hot water bottle had to do.

I have mentioned in the past a Bavarian guy who predicts the coming winter based on the flowering of the Mullein plants in his garden on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary (15th August). This winter he predicts some snow at the latest mid-October, then little up to Christmas but from January onwards a long hard winter, as it used to be, right through to Easter. He says the forecast is very local but the plants in this year's video show the same pattern as ours so I need to get working on splitting and storing our wood piles.

Angie took off early to the flea market in nearby Sontheim, meeting up with MrsB and friend Kathi. It's been like Christmas, Easter and birthday for her this weekend - the horse show and then two flea markets.

I walked the dogs in the cold, windy, trying to drizzle, miserable countryside. Back home and stayed indoors for much too long but at least managed in the course of the day to eject 24 kidney stones - loads of tiny ones but a couple of larger ones that probably caused last weeks blockage.

In the evening Angie risked a ride/walk when the sun came out. She forgot to take gloves but luckily had long sleeved pullover with loops in the sleeves to pul over the thumbs and give a bit of protection. I picked up Flash at the halfway point and then dropped off a CD of the photos of the Boadabira Club in case any of the members want copies.

Luckily the weather forecast for the coming week shows some improvement, particularly as Angie is taking a weeks holiday to avoid the absolute chaos on the trains caused by improvement works.
