Watering the Cabbage Crop

16.0C with some cloud and a hint of haar with a few sunnier spells. Light to moderate breeze..

Maeve the Deerhound has been in her garden all day.

I went for a walk after lunch. Van Morrison on the Nano (Hymns to the Silence). I went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. In the field just beyond the church equipment has been put in place to begin watering the cabbage crop even although rain is forecast for the weekend. I turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. The fields on both sides of the track have been harvested and only rows of drying straw remain. The combine harvester was in a field on the other side of the road out to Scryne.

I came back along the cycle path and went down to the beach at Westhaven via the level crossing. Without Maeve I was easily able to climb over the new fence panels that recently replaced the pedestrian gates at the level crossing. I walked along the beach to the fishermen's huts. The tide was almost fully in and the sea was fairly rough. Valhalla A and the two smaller boats were moored close to shore and were bobbing about in the swell.

I came along East Row, stopping to say hello to the couple from the end cottage, then came back over the road bridge over the railway and carried on round in a long loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.

Tomorrow Apothecary7, Maeve, and I are heading West to mid Argyll where we will be based at Dunadd for a week of visiting favourite places (looks like rain ... lets hope for showers!). The cottage has wifi :-)
