Vignoble

A quick shot of a corner of the Alsatian vineyards (best in large). This one  (Brand) overlooks the village of Turckheim and is home to one of the 51 grands crus of the region.  

Only 4% of the land get that appelation and is characterized by exceptional soil, steep slopes, and unique micro-climates with higher than usual exposure to sun. The grands crus areas are strictly controlled and delimited with vineyards ranging from 3 to 80 ha. Wine production in those areas is subject to very strict production rules resulting in ambitious and quality-laden viticulture. So much to learn for me...
