Chedham's Yard

Chedham's Yard, along with many other places, was open today as part of the "Heritage Open Days" which is going on all over the country. We met up with Technophobe and Loosecanon there and spent a most informative and enjoyable few hours.
You may remember the name "Chedham's Yard" from the BBC programme Restoration Village, as it won the competition in 2006 and therefore received funding to help to restore it to the condition it is in today. It was originally a wheelwright's and blacksmith's, and when it closed was locked up for years as a virtually intact time-capsule.
Here is a link to the website if you would like to learn more about it.
Everyone running it today was a volunteer. This chap was showing us how the blacksmiths worked - you can see the bellows to the left of the picture, and the fire is behind him. I also like the "Motorhead" t-shirt amidst the traditional village industry.
My "extra" shows some of the hundreds and hundreds of tools that are to be found there. Everything was photographed in its original position, then removed and treated, as part of the restoration, before being put back in its place for posterity.
