Its seen better days

I was back on an 8 mile walk with the walking group, first one after my holidays.  Although rain was forecast early afternoon we managed the whole walk with only a few rain drops and even some sun.  We started walking uphill through an orchard where the Bramley apples were being harvested and skirted along lanes and footpaths to the Venn Ottery Common.  It soon became a very wet and muddy walk, we all watched as mud sank over the group leaders boots as he tested the best way though a particularly muddy patch.  We took the other route.

We stopped off for lunch at a pub that was so full inside with people eating that my first impressions were that it was a Christmas lunch.  The food was good and it has such a good reputation that people come from all around even midweek.  We left with a short walk along the River Otter which was raging, I haven't seen it flowing so fast before.  This shot was taken alongside the river just before a derelict looking Mill that is being restored and an Archimedes screw.  A good walk.
