What happened to Halloween, Bonfire Night, Autumn?

Went to a Toby Carvery in Liverpool last night (back blip - sorry) with my three brothers and was greeted by this spectacle.  I asked a waitress when Christmas had "started" - she said September 1st!  I felt I'd been asleep just like Rip Van Winkle!  Oh well....
