At Last!

There it was, looking like a dried leaf that had fallen from the tree above and lodged itself amongst the leaves of a hawthorn.  It was so good that I didn't give it a second glance.

There was a bramble growing next to it and as I plucked the fruit, the 'leaf' moved and I spotted the tell-tale white fish-hook or comma shape. It was my first (Fife) comma for 2015.

After an absence of over 180 years, comma butterflies returned to Fife in 2003.  I saw my first Fife commas in August 2009 and again the following year in the same location. Since then, I have seen one most years (max 3 in any one year) but this year they had eluded me.
