Gillipaw's Journal

Up on the Roof

On the roof, beside the conservatory of the McCance Building, University of Strathclyde, looking up to the top of the Livingstone Tower.  I spent eleven years around here way back when, but I'd not been on this roof before.  I have been up to the top of the Tower.  There used to be a penthouse flat and roof garden up there, not sure if it is used now. Interesting how walking down an unchanged stairwell suddenly brought back a host of memories.

Here this evening for a lecture by Sir Harry Burns.  Now Professor of Global Health at the University, he was formerly Chief Medical Officer. The title of his talk "We know what causes illness, but what causes health?".  Fascinating stuff, with questions afterwards for over half an hour.  I could have listened to him for much longer.

More information about Sir Harry and his thoughts here, in an article from The Guardian in March 2014.  It is worth a read.
