Gardening etiquette

In my experience gardeners are among the most generous of people. They love to give you plants especially from those which they have grown themselves rather than bought.

This delightful Lily was given to us by Eddie.

But gardening etiquette requires that the donor should never ask how the plants are doing. It is so humiliating to have to confess that the precious gift has passed over to the great garden in the sky.

Nor should the donor expect you to remember the name of their gift. The pleasure of it should be enough.

This plant was given to us by Eddie and it has given much pleasure. Tomorrow Eddie will see this blip and he will no doubt remind us of its name.

Thank You Eddie.
