Sunset on Morar Beach

A beautiful day began with a run on the beach at Portobello and ended watching the sunset over the western isles from Morar Beach. We came here by train from our local station with changes at Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street.

The six carriage train, became four at Crianlarich and two at Fort William.

The clear skies afforded stunning views of the peaks of Glen Coe, the vastness of Rannoch Moor, complete with its herds of red deer and the majestic beauty  of a cloud free Ben Nevis.

The viaduct at Glenfinnian gets a special announcement from the conductor that causes a tsunami of digital apparatus as the packed carriage tries to re-capture their own Hogwarts moment.

Until the re-opening of The Borders Railway last week, this line from Fort William to Mallaig had been the UK's most recently constructed railway line.
